This presentation is designed to equip administrative staff in Washington State fire districts with practical, actionable tools to strengthen their personal preparedness and enhance their role in community resilience. Participants will learn simple steps to prepare themselves and their families for emergencies, ensuring they can confidently support their organizations during times of crisis.

In addition to personal readiness, the session provides an overview of emergency management—how it works, who is involved, and the critical role fire districts play within the broader system. Attendees will also gain guidance on building and maintaining connections with local partners, including emergency management agencies, community organizations, and neighboring jurisdictions, to support coordinated and effective disaster preparedness efforts.

Anne’s Bio:

Anne LeSage is the Emergency Manager for the City of Bainbridge Island, and has had the pleasure of serving the Bainbridge Island community for over seven years. Anne is responsible for leading the City’s comprehensive emergency management program. Anne is a Certified Emergency Manager by the International Association of Emergency Managers and a graduate of the FEMA National Emergency Management Advance Academy.

Previously, Anne served as the Emergency Management Director at the University of California, Irvine. Prior to working for UCI, Anne worked in Public Health Preparedness; holding positions in both Dallas County Health and Human Services and the Washington State Department of Health Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Program.

Anne has a Master’s Degree in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University, a Master’s Degree in Public Health from University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health Education from California State University, Northridge.
